I'm in Tassie at the moment. Just looked at a couple of 2nd hand sea kayaks.
Both not suitable for paddling the Whitsundays for 10 days.

Cheapskate me.... my budget [or maybe challenge] is to find one under 1000... 2 to look at in Melbourne on the way home both Apostles....

Know of anything suitable??

Why don't you hire/buy some from saltydog sea kayaking up here?

www.saltydog.com.au

Bought our ECO BEZHIG and CURRENT DESIGNS - STORM secondhand from Neill years ago and they performed beautifully in these conditions.

Good luck with some kayaks in your budget ;)

G'Day Royce,
Have a look at www.kfdu.com.au There is always something for sale there.

I just won an EcoBezhig with paddle and skirt... for $800 off ebay. Then the seller calls to say that he had already sold it the night before. AAArrgh!

I could buy or rent of Salty dogs but want to have my own to set up as I like and get used to paddling.

Looking at a couple of Dagger Apostles for around the right price on Monday,

Ask the guys on Tassie paddlers- http://www.tassiepaddlers.net/ if your in Tassie and looking for a yak. Simmo has a fair idea of whats around.
Abit more than you want to spend but this would be awesome around the Whitsundays.

I'd be very embarassed to paddle one of those for 30ks through the waves while the rest of the mob kept dry!
